Hi, I'm Jess!

I am a former competitive dancer, choreographer and dance teacher who has always loved movement.  From my love of dance, I came to the decision to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, the study of human movement.  From there, I began working in the field in a community setting with both the general population and those going through post-rehabilitation.  This included working with people of all ages as well as older adults, many of which had neurological, neuromuscular, respiratory and cardiac conditions.  From this, came my love for working with the older adult population. I soon became a Registered Kinesiologist in Ontario and continued to work in the community, as well as clinical settings.  I later decided to replace my R. Kin certification and am now a Certified Exercise Physiologist with ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine).  I love encouraging others to exercise and move, joining my love of dance, fitness and helping others- movement is medicine!

The Purpose of Make A Move

My love of teaching fitness and dance always remained and when the pandemic began, it was an opportunity to help people who needed it the most.  Hence, the beginning of "Make A Move" where I continue to encourage older adults to "Make A Move" towards their healthiest lifestyle- a choice to choose your health, your well-being, and be in a supportive and fun community.

I am a passionate instructor and trainer who cares deeply about the well-being of each of my community participants and clients.  With my wealth of experience in working with people of all ages and abilities, I take pride in offering accessible classes for all levels, with many exercise variations. While practicing in my previous jobs, I've seen clients from every age, every body type, every ability- including a wide range of injuries and health problems. Through teaching exercise classes, prescribing exercise, and assessing people, it's easy to see that exercise or lack of, is not the only factor in a person's wellness or health. We must encompass all elements of health & wellness to live a truly healthy & happy lifestyle- this includes moving your body, but also, what you put in it, your mental and your spiritual wellness.

Join me in group fitness or personal training and take the step to choose a healthy (and fun) lifestyle as you age!
